I believe that music is more than just a skill; it is a vital form of expression that connects us all. Whether I’m performing on the concert stage or guiding a student through their first breakthrough, my goal is to foster a lifelong love for the art of sound.

My Approach to Teaching

Teaching is a craft, not a job. At Modell Music Studio, I blend rigorous technical training with a personalized, goal-oriented approach. I don’t believe in a "one-size-fits-all" curriculum. I believe in meeting you where you are, understanding your unique learning style, and building a roadmap that makes every step of the journey rewarding.

Professional Credentials & Experience

With over 20 years of performance and teaching experience, I bring a unique perspective to my studio:

  • Academic Background: Master of Music in Flute Performance (CSU Fresno), Bachelor’s degrees in Flute and Piano Performance (La Sierra University).

  • Current Faculty: Adjunct Professor of Flute at California Lutheran University and Music Director for Protestant services at Naval Base Ventura County.

  • Active Performing Artist: Regularly perform with the Thousand Oaks Philharmonic and collaborate on new compositions. I am a professional member of the Ventura County National Federation of Music Clubs (VCFMC) and the Music Teacher’s Association of California (MTAC).

  • Specialized Expertise: My career spans from chamber orchestras to professional wedding ensembles, giving me a deep understanding of what it takes to perform with confidence and artistry.

Music has been the constant thread in my life. I am deeply committed to helping my students achieve their own "musical milestones"—whether that’s mastering a challenging piece, preparing for a competitive audition, or simply finding a creative outlet in a busy world.
